Manchester United player Alvaro Fernandez lifts lid on Preston loan experience

Manchester United's Alvaro Fernandez has is enjoying playing for Preston North End on loan. Fernandez, 19, had attracted interest from Premier League and Championship clubs this summer, but Preston won the race for his signature, with their development plan for the youngster playing a key role in bringing him to Deepdale Stadium.

The left-back is highly regarded at Old Trafford and he's made impressive progress since signing for United from Real Madrid's academy in 2020.

Fernandez made 32 appearances for United's U23s last season and his performances were promising. ALSO READ: United defender Charlie Wellens leaves on loan Preston tracked the youngster's academy performances last term and they agreed a deal in July to sign him on a season-long loan.

Fernandez has made four appearances for Preston and has been reflecting on his first few months at the club. "I've been living in Manchester with an English family for two seasons now, so my English has improved a lot with them," Fernandez told Lancashire Live. "This is my third season over here and the football is so different; I came from Real Madrid where you always have the ball in a very good team.
