The Premier League has confirmed clubs will be allowed to make five substitutions from next season. Clubs were permitted to make five changes for the remainder of the 2019-20 season after its restart following a three-month shutdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but the majority of clubs voted to revert to the three-subs rule at the start of last season.

From next season, clubs will be permitted to use five substitutions, to be made on three occasions during a match, with an additional opportunity at half-time.
