Man in critical condition in hospital after being 'knocked out by a punch' in town centre

A man has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition after being 'knocked unconscious' on a busy town centre street. Emergency services descended on St Petersgate, in Stockport, in the early hours of this morning (December 19).

Officers were called out to reports of a man being unconscious on the street at around 12.15am. Paramedics attended the scene before taking the man to hospital with a head injury. He remains in a critical condition at hospital this afternoon, Greater Manchester Police
