Manchester City and Manchester United have been handed a Premier League title boost with FIFA looking at delaying the 2021 Club World Cup.

The prestigious tournament scheduled for December could be moved after Japan were forced to step down as hosts due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Chelsea will participate in the 10-day tournament after beating City 1-0 in last season’s Champions League final. But any likely postponement would cause a backlog of fixtures for the Blues, with the club already awaiting confirmation of when their games between December 9-19 would be played.

A rescheduled Club World Cup would likely be played at the start of 2022 and with the FA Cup beginning in January, it’s an extra competition for Chelsea to navigate.
