Man arrested after 56-year-old pedestrian dies in collision with van

Officers were called to Hurst Cross in Ashton-under-Lyne just before 11.45pm on Saturday night (June 19) after reports of a collision at the junction with Kings Road.

Emergency services attended the scene and established that a white Mercedes Sprinter van had been travelling along Lees Road. Read more: Man in critical condition after fight with 'several males armed with knives' The Sprinter van then continued onto Hurst Cross where it was involved in a collision with a pedestrian who had been crossing the road.
