Major plans to build £20 million development with more than 100 homes in Bridge of Earn have been unveiled

Major plans to build a £20 million development with more than 100 new homes on the southern edge of Bridge of Earn have been reviewed by local residents.

Aberdeenshire-based Scotia Homes held its first in-person event on March 31 to give people their say on the proposal. Nearly 60 people came along to the drop-in session at the Bridge of Earn Institute to pose questions about the project, where the houses will be bordered by The Meadows, Dunbarney Avenue and Wicks o’ Baiglie Road.

Scotia Homes submitted the Proposal of Application Notice (PoAN) to Perth and Kinros s Council in October 2021 for a residential development of up to 110 “high quality” properties at Old Edinburgh Road/Dunbarney Avenue, Bridge of Earn.

A quarter of those will be built as affordable units.If approved, Scotia Homes says the overall development will see a “substantial inward investment” to the local area as well as the creation of “significant” employment and support apprenticeship roles during the construction phase.The opportunity for members of the public to also provide feedback online remained open until Friday, April 15.It is anticipated that a planning application will be submitted in early summer time, with a construction start date in autumn 2023 and a completion date in 2026.Commenting on the in-person event, planning and development lead at Scotia Homes Roger Laird said: “Having had very limited face-to-face engagement over the last couple of years, it was great to host an in-person drop-in session at Bridge of Earn and we would like to take this opportunity to thank those who took the time to attend and find out more about the proposals.“We were encouraged with the high level of interest in our proposals since we began consulting
