A Motherwell man has been jailed for more than a year after subjecting his partner to seven months of violence.John Clemenson claimed to remember little about the physical abuse because he was drinking at least a bottle of tonic wine every day at the time.Clemenson, 24, of McClurg Court, was sentenced at Hamilton Sheriff Court.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

The only thing stopping him from drinking more was a lack of money."He can only apologise for his behaviour.
