The Argentine, who is currently in charge of Paris Saint-Germain, is one of the frontrunners to become the Reds' next manager, along with Ajax boss Erik ten Hag.
Pochettino was identified as a suitable candidate several months ago and United saw an attempt to lure him to Old Trafford back in November knocked back.
Since then, Pochettino has continued to be consistently linked with replacing Ralf Rangnick ahead of next season. He is understood to be keen on a return to England and becoming the next occupier of the United managerial hot-seat.
