Gus Poyet reveals Kilmarnock rejection as he targets English managerial return
Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has revealed he turned down a move to Kilmarnock last summer.Poyet has been out of work since leaving Bordeuax in 2018 and he's desperate to get back into English football as soon as he can.Kilmarnock offered him the chance to take over at Rugby Park after Steve Clarke left to take over as Scotland manager in May 2019 at the end of the season.Poyet - who played for Chelsea and Tottenham during his playing career - has also managed Brighton, AEK Athens, Real Betis and Shanghai Shenhua.But the 52-year-old wasn't willing to move to the Premiership and insists it wasn't the right time for him.He told the DW podcast: "I had a very honest approach from Kilmarnock last year when Clarke went to the national team.
