Arsenal star Kieran Tierney has been called up for Scotland’s World Cup qualifying double-header – despite being injured. The left-back has been missing from the resurgent Premier League side’s last three matches due to a bruised ankle suffered in training ahead of the 3-1 victory over Aston Villa.
But Scotland national team coach Steve Clarke is believed to have been in close contact with Emirates boss Mikel Arteta and has given the go-ahead to include him in his squad for the next two games.
Clarke’s side face Moldova a week on Friday, followed by Denmark three days later – with a win in either match enough to guarantee Scotland a place in the playoffs.
