Katy Perry

Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson (born October 25, 1984), known professionally as Katy Perry, is an American singer, songwriter, and television judge. After singing in church during her childhood, she pursued a career in gospel music as a teenager.

Perry signed with Red Hill Records and released her debut studio album Katy Hudson under her birth name in 2001, which was commercially unsuccessful. She moved to Los Angeles the following year to venture into secular music after Red Hill ceased operations and she subsequently began working with producers Glen Ballard, Dr. Luke, and Max Martin.

After adopting the stage name Katy Perry and being dropped by The Island Def Jam Music Group and Columbia Records, she signed a recording contract with Capitol Records in April 2007.

James Christian Kimmel (born November 13, 1967) is an American television host, comedian, writer, and producer. He is the host and executive producer of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, a late-night talk show that premiered on ABC on January 26, 2003 at Hollywood Masonic Temple in Hollywood, California; and on April 1, 2019, at a secondary home, the Zappos Theater on the Las Vegas Strip. Kimmel hosted the Primetime Emmy Awards in 2012 and 2016, and the Academy Awards in 2017 and 2018.

Katy Perry and Jimmy Kimmel are taking on “Baby Shark” with a new song! During an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!

on Monday (April 11), the pair tried their best to create a track that would rival the catchy children’s song, which is currently the most-watched music video of all time. Click inside to read more… In the intro, Jimmy explained that parents like himself and Katy have been beholden to “Baby Shark,” which inspired them to create a new viral kid’s song.

The clip then cuts to the duo working together in the studio, where they decide the song has two embody the two central tenets of a children’s song: it has to be repetitive and reference all the things kids love, like puppies, low-interest mortgages, dinosaurs, garbage trucks and food.

Settling on the latter as their subject, Jimmy said, “Yum yum is a good one, right? It causes all the hair on my body to stand up when I say the word ‘Yum Yum,’ but I think that’s good because the parents have to hate the song.” He also suggested they add “nom nom” as Katy made fart noises with her mouth and added that the beat should should be flatulent. “Clap your hands and stomp your feet/ Give me something good to eat,” Katy sings in the video as the pair do a choregraphed dance to the chorus, “Yum yum, nom nom, toot toot, poop!” “First the food goes in your mouth/ Then it starts to travel south,” Jimmy sings on the second verse, as he and Katy travel down a cartoon stomach.
