KATIE McGlynn has landed her first role after quitting Coronation Street playing a single mum in a new Kay Mellor drama. The actress, 26, has been head-hunted by the award-winning screenwriter behind television hits Band of Gold, Playing the Field and Fat Friends and is set to star in her new offering for the BBC, titled The Syndicate.
Katie, who waved goodbye to her Cobbles character Sinead Tinker last year, revealed: "I've always wanted to work with her. I was so nervous because I'd only played Sinead for seven years, but Kay was lovely and put me at ease." The star teased her new character is"rough around the edges" who is scraping to get by, and she can't wait to get stuck into the role when lockdown lifts.
