Johnny Depp has made another attempt to clear his name of the so-called wife beater ruling by applying directly to the court of appeal.
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor is trying to reverse a high court ruling in the UK that he assaulted his ex-wife Amber Heard and put her in fear for her life.
Depp had sued The Sun’s publisher for libel after a 2018 column by its executive editor Dan Wootton described him as a ‘wife beater’.
The 57-year-old took legal action against the paper’s parent company, News Group Newspapers (NGN) over a column written in The Sun.
