The upcoming romantic-comedy Marry Me — starring Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson — has decided to shift its release date in favor of early summer nuptials as Hollywood continues to rearrange its calendar amid the ongoing pandemic and Monday's news that a vaccine could help life and commerce return to normal in March or April.
Universal announced Tuesday that the music-infused movie is pushing back its release in theaters from Feb. 12, 2021 (the beginning of Valentine's Day weekend) and will instead walk down the aisle on May 14, taking the place of DreamWorks Animation's latest Spirit Riding Free film.
The latter film — which has been given an official name, Spirit Untamed — will be released several weeks later on June 4, 2021.
