J-pop artist Gen Hoshino released a song he wrote and recorded on his own during quarantine called "Oriai / Halfway" on Friday (June 19), along with the accompanying music video.

The "Same Thing" hitmaker explains that he came up with the idea for the song during lockdown and brought it to life by learning how to use a digital audio workstation and handling all the vocals, track-making, and instrumentation on his own. "This love song was born in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis," he shares on Instagram.

The music video helmed by filmmaker Sho Miyake depicts a man (Hoshino) and a woman (Shizuka Ishibashi) each spending their days at home alone, making the best of their time separated from each other during self-isolation.
