On Thursday — the same day the White House unveiled its three-phase "Opening Up America Again" blueprint — DGA president Thomas Schlamme and national executive director Russell Hollander wrote a letter to members addressing concerns about the novel coronavirus pandemic and disclosing the new task force chaired by Soderbergh.

In an apparent effort to glean what one might expect from a deadly viral pandemic, streams of the 2011 film “Contagion” spiked earlier this month, placing the eerily prophetic flick near the top of many streaming services’ most-watched lists.

The Hollywood flick Contagion which released in the year 2011 is suddenly on everyone's watch list as people across the world are practicing. The latest news reports on the film Contagion suggest that the medical expert who was a consultant on the film, Ian Lipkin has testes positive for the CIVID-19. The medical expert reportedly announced on television that he has tested positive for the Coronavirus. The world is currently battling an outbreak of the COVID-19. The film, Contagion was helmed by director Steven Soderbergh.

*SPOILERS ALERT* You may think that me talking about Gwyneth Paltrow dying in the first few minutes of Steven Soderbergh's thriller Contagion (2011) would be a massive spoiler, but that's farther from the truth! That crucial death was just the beginning of the MEV-1 virus, which claimed the lives of 26 million in the "fictional" film. Sound eerily familiar though, right? Well, the film has come back in the spotlight after nearly a decade, because of its similarities to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

FANS are convinced that the 2011 disaster film Contagion predicted the coronavirus pandemic. The movie - starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Matt Damon - follows mankind dealing with the fictional virus MEV-1, which has a 72-hour incubation period and high fatality rate.

Contagion writer Scott Z. Burns isn’t surprised by the coronavirus outbreak after extensively researching pandemics for the 2013 film.

A decade ago, screenwriter Scott Z. Burns pitched an idea to Steven Soderbergh for a disaster movie without any aliens or monsters. “Contagion,” as it would be called, involved a deadly global pandemic, and rather than cheap Hollywood thrills, he wanted the movie to be based on something much scarier – real scientific research. Soderbergh immediately agreed to direct the story.

The cancellation of SXSW on March 6 due to the coronavirus epidemic sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry.
