Former Manchester United player Craig Cathcart has revealed how Sir Alex Ferguson wouldn't stand in the way of young stars who wanted to leave the club for more game time.
Cathcart came through the youth ranks at Old Trafford in 2007 but never made a senior appearance, leaving permanently for then Premier League side Blackpool in 2010 after loans to Royal Antwerp, Plymouth and Watford - the club he since rejoined and remains a defensive stalwart.
The Northern Ireland international spoke exclusively to MEN Sport about his time at United and his departure, which he concedes came at the right time and without any ill-feeling.
