Glasgow's fireworks display and Christmas light switch-on cancelled over coronavirus fears

Glasgow’s biggest end of year events have been cancelled due to coronavirus fears. Glasgow Life confirmed the city’s fireworks display and Christmas light’s switch on events have been impacted by the ‘current guidance on physical distancing’.Thousands of people would normally attend both events, which take place over November.

Glasgow City Council say the Christmas tree and lights will still be displayed in the city, but the switch on event that takes place at George Square will no longer go ahead.

Plans for the yearly fireworks display, which also takes place at George Square around Bonfire Night, have also been shelved.
