De Gea came under scrutiny last season after some high-profile errors, with former United captain Roy Keane labelling him as 'the most overrated goalkeeper I've seen in a long time'.

Henderson's return to Old Trafford after two seasons at Sheffield United, coupled with a new five-year deal, had raised questions over who would start in between the sticks against Crystal Palace.

Solskjaer, though, stuck with De Gea for United's first Premier League outing of the season, with Henderson among the substitutes.
