Carole Baskin
Carole Baskin (born June 6, 1961) is an American animal rights activist and owner of Big Cat Rescue, a non-profit animal sanctuary based near Tampa, Florida. Baskin drew public attention when she was featured in the 2020 Netflix documentary series Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness about Oklahoma-based private zoo operator known as Joe Exotic. The Netflix series follows both Baskin and Joe Exotic, filming their ongoing and escalating feuds over exotic animals in private zoos. Following the series' release, Baskin has been targeted by Internet memes related to the disappearance of Don Lewis, her second husband.

The Florida sheriff who is in charge of the Don Lewis case is looking for new leads after the success of the Netflix series Tiger King. Don was married to wildlife sanctuary Big Cat Rescue’s owner Carole Baskin and he mysteriously disappeared in 1997.

The Netflix series explores claims that Carole killed her husband and fed him to a tiger, which she adamantly denies.

Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister tweeted on Monday morning (March 30) and wrote, “Since @netflix and #Covid19 #Quarantine has made #TigerKing all the rage, I figured it was a good time to ask for new leads.” Don was last seen on August 18, 1997.
