Chester Bennington's pre-Linkin Park band make 'Amends' with new LP
Grey Daze in 1993.Since the Phoenix-area favourites broke up in the late ’90s, Dowdell and Bennington had stayed in contact and opened Club Tattoo, a tattoo and piercing parlour with locations in Las Vegas and Arizona.But in late 2016, Bennington was ringing up his long-time pal to ask how he felt about resurrecting the band of their youth.“It was one of our normal phone calls and we started talking about throwing a Club Tattoo anniversary party. Then he said, ‘When we do it, we should put Grey Daze back together,’ ” Dowdell recalls in a phone interview from Phoenix.Before he joined Linkin Park in 1999, Bennington, who committed suicide in July 2017, fronted the grunge metal band alongside Dowdell.
