A family who had their home destroyed in a flood have been made homeless after the hotel they were staying in closed. Denise Howarth, her three children and pet dog had been staying at Travelodge Bolton Central since evacuating their home in the wake of severe flooding caused by Storm Ciara, in early February.

On Tuesday, the hotel announced it had made the decision to close due to the government advice surrounding coronavirus. Due to the damage caused by the floods, Ms Howarth's house, in Riverside Drive, Prestolee, is still unsafe to move back into.

The issue is further exacerbated by her eldest son Nathan's health problems - the 22-year-old has a rare blood disorder, has two thirds of his left lung missing and also suffers from asthma.
