South Ayrshire remain ‘broadly similar to 2020,' according to education chiefs. Formal exams were cancelled for the second year running due to COVID-19, with grades based on teacher judgement.Pupils were informed of their results in June, but final results from the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) were delivered to students last week.Across South Ayrshire schools, S5 pupils achieving one, three and five Highers ‘increased slightly by 1 or 2 per cent points’, whereas the number of S4 pupils achieving five National 5 level awards ‘decreased slightly by 2 per cent points’.A council spokesperson said: “Despite the continued disruption brought about by the pandemic, across South Ayrshire the exam results at authority level are broadly.
