Emmerdale's Charity star says 50th anniversary is 'bigger and better' than expected

Emmerdale's Charity Dingle star Emma Atkins has revealed that the ITV soap's 50th anniversary is "bigger and better" than expected.The actress, 46, who has played Charity since 2000, appeared on Tuesday's Good Morning Britain to discuss Emmerdale's new schedule, which started earlier this week.

From Monday 7 March, Emmerdale’s air time has permanently changed from 7pm to 7.30pm, which means it will be in direct competition with EastEnders that starts at the same time on BBC One.This comes as part of a planned new restructure of the times of the ITV soaps, as Coronation Street will also shift to 8pm for an hour long episode on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

EastEnders won’t be airing on Fridays anymore as it has introduced an extra episode on Wednesday evenings. Speaking all things about the ITV soap, GMB host Richard Madeley asked what was planned for the 50th anniversary and whether there would be another live episode.To which Emma joked: "It was utterly terrifying Richard, I won't lie!
