Dozens of swimmers brave freezing water for Christmas Day swim at Edinburgh beach

Hardy swimmers, some wearing antlers and Santa hats, dashed into the sea to splash around despite air temperatures being 2C.Even a dog joined in with the fun after chasing its owner into the water.It comes as Scots this year celebrate Christmas under tight coronavirus restrictions.

Families are allowed to gather indoors, if safe, for one day only before all of mainland Scotland goes into tier four from Boxing Day.People are once again being asked to ‘stay at home’, while non-essential shops, pubs and restaurants will all remain closed for at least three weeks.The school Christmas holidays.
