DOCTOR Who season 12 concluded with the lowest ratings since the 2005 Christopher Eccleston reboot. The final episode - The Timeless Child - aired on March 1 and drew 4.6 million viewers.

It averaged 5.3 million in consolidated figures - which includes streaming, live-airing and downloads - and while it's still a good figure, it's a low for the show overall.

Jodie Whittaker took over as the Time Lord in 2018 from Peter Capaldi. The Press Association reports six of the 10 least watched episodes since the show was revived in 2005 are from the current twelfth series.

Despite the dip in figures, showrunner Chris Chibnall has reassured fans who have stuck with the series that it isn't going anywhere.
