They also spoke about how the abuse and complaints only proved how important the routine was, and why it was so needed on primetime TV.
First, Ashley thanked those who showed their support following the performance. 'Thank you to everyone that stood by us, every phone call, every comment, every DM - you guys made the difference to what was a really dark time, being in the storm of 30,000 complaints, just a torrent of like racially charged abuse threats, all of it,' Ashley said. 'It was a dark time but that support made a difference.
