Disney has responded to recent criticism made by Peter Dinklage over its live-action remake of "Snow White." On Monday, the "Game of Thrones" star was a guest on Marc Maron’s "WTF" podcast where he slammed the upcoming film based on the 1937 animated classic. The actor, who has dwarfism, noted that the story makes caricatures out of people like him.

Soon after, a Disney spokesperson issued a statement to The Hollywood Reporter in an attempt to set the record straight. "To avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film, we are taking a different approach with these seven characters and have been consulting with members of the dwarfism community," the statement read. "We look forward to sharing more as the film heads into production after a lengthy development period." Rachel Zegler (pictured) here was cast in the title role of ‘Snow White’. (Jon Kopaloff/WireImage) The outlet noted that "Snow White" will have cultural consultants, just like with other live-action films like "Aladdin" and "Mulan." The film has been in development for three years and the studio has been reimagining the dwarf characters since the earliest stages of development.

During his appearance, Dinklage pointed out the casting of "West Side Story" breakout star Rachel Zegler. "There’s a lot of hypocrisy going on," said the 52-year-old, as quoted by Variety. "Literally no offense to anyone, but I was a little taken aback when they were very proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White.

But you’re still telling the story of ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.’ Take a step back and look at what you’re doing there.
