The Railway, in Portwood, will be knocked down after Stockport council’ s planning committee reluctantly approved proposals for a new retail unit.

Developer Morbaine’s proposals for a new store on Great Portwood Street also involve bulldozing Carpetright’s current premises. READ MORE: It means The Railway - which was named CAMRA's pub of the year in 2007 - will make way for a retail unit providing 1472 sq m of floorspace.
