Disgust as 'Tommy Silhouette' and lamppost poppy stolen from under M61 bridge

in Bolton. Volunteers say the items were removed from under the M61 bridge at the bottom of Crown Lane in Horwich. Each silhouette signifies the hundreds of individuals from Horwich who made the “ultimate sacrifice” during WW1 and WW2.

Staff from the Horwich Royal British Legion branch are now appealing for their safe return. A spokesman for the charity said: “We are saddened to say that one of the ‘Tommy Silhouettes’ and a Lamppost Poppy have been stolen from under the M61 bridge at the bottom of Crown Lane. “As I’m sure many of you would have noticed, this year as with all previous years we adorned the Lampposts in Horwich with Poppies and Tommy Silhouettes.  “What many people don’t realise is each Lamppost Poppy and Tommy Silhouettes.
