Disgust as 'more than 40 youths' vandalise historic Salford landmark

A historic Salford landmark has reportedly been damaged by a group of 40 youths. The Monton Veterans Shelter has been targeted as part of the latest round of vandalism to hit Eccles, police have said.

Damage was caused to the seating, roof and flower beds surrounding the Monton Green shelter, which dates back to the 1930s. Sergeant Judd Eccles, of GMP Eccles, described the vandalism as a “disgrace”.

He has urged members of the public to get in touch if they think they have any information regarding the incident.
