Council seek court order to remove Travellers near Irvine primary school

Irvine primary school.A fleet of caravans pitched up beside Somerville Park in Lawthorn on Tuesday – with chickens, dogs and a horse in tow.The land is flanked by trees but is in close proximity to housing and Lawthorn Primary and is used by pupils going to and from the school.Lawthorn head teacher Sandie Grossart advised parents of the camp's presence in a blanket text message sent out at lunchtime on Tuesday.Police have visited the camp and Ayrshire Live understands a notice was issued for the Travellers to leave the area within 24 hours.Residents complained of generators running through the night with allegations made of anti-social behaviour.However, the Travellers remain on site today and North Ayrshire Council is now seeking a court.
