Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, tells NBC News’ Richard Engel that public health officials are dealing with an emerging infectious disease that has “now reached outbreak proportions and likely pandemic proportions.” So far, there have been six deaths in the US, with  approximately 80 cases of the virus overall nationally.

There have been about 3,000 deaths globally, 2,803 of which have been in China’s Hubei province, where the outbreak started.
