Carey Mercer (Ex-Frog Eyes) Announces New Band Soft Plastics, Shares New Song: Listen

Former Frog Eyes leader Carey Mercer has announced his new band Soft Plastics. Mercer has also shared the inaugural single from the project and announced the band’s debut LP 5 Dreams, which will be released via Paper Bag Records.

Mercer, Mel Campbell, and Shyla Seller comprise Soft Plastics. “The songs aren’t tied to a cohesive theme,” Mercer said of the new album in a press release. “But they do exist in a land that is deeply wet, dark, flooded—occasionally a gilded sunbeam comes out of nowhere and the song just stops and stares in bloody awe of what we are given, what we might see.” Frog Eyes announced their breakup in 2018.
