The British Red Cross is looking for volunteers to help raise funds for the increasing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. The charity is asking people to help with a bucket collection taking place across 2,600 SPAR stores in the UK on March 17, 18 and 19.

Members of the public who want to 'Bucket Shake' with the Red Cross will not need any prior experience and are only asked to be "warm, enthusiastic and ready to collect donations for those experiencing this humanitarian crisis". "We have collections opportunities up and down the country to raise the money necessary to provide food, first aid and shelter to those affected." Miranda Bradley, Head of Volunteering for Fundraising, British Red Cross said: “We have received such an overwhelming response from the British public, who have opened up their hearts and pockets to try and help support the humanitarian crisis unfolding day by day in Ukraine. "We know that people have felt helpless, sad and desperate to support as the crisis in Ukraine continues to deepen and this is another way for people to show their support if they wish to. "Picking up a bucket at your local SPAR store will help to raise crucial donations that will go directly to the essential work of Red Cross volunteers on the frontline of the humanitarian response.” It comes after aid workers recently called for people wanting to support Ukraine to donate money rather than material goods.
