Cristiano Ronaldo very rarely needs to be given any incentive to perform, but he may have been given just that ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Brighton this weekend.
Much of the talk this week has been around whether the Portuguese ace will stay at Old Trafford next season. Speculation continues over his future with United, with the 37-year-old denying he said ‘I’m not finished’ after Monday’s win over Brentford.
Ronaldo has been in superb form as the season draws to a close, with eight goals in his last six league outings. He’ll be aiming to continue that fine run of form as United head to the south coast on Saturday to take on Graham Potter’s side. Ronaldo won’t have good memories of coming up against the Dutch defender. The pair faced off in the Champions League in 2019, when they were playing for Juventus and Ajax respectively.
