Manchester United under-18s were victorious against Nottingham Forest’s under-18 side in the FA Youth Cup final. It was a hard-fought game with both sides giving it their all.
United took the lead early in the first half thanks to a header from Rhys Bennett. But an unfortunate mistake from goalkeeper Radek Vitek allowed Forest to equalise and the sides went into half-time on equal terms.
From the beginning of the second half, Forest looked like they had complete control of the game. It was only after some clever substitutions, including bringing on Joe Hugill for Charlie McNeill, that United were able to wrestle back control and start to put together attacking moves. It helped to begin with that United were given a dubious penalty to make it 2-1; dubious because it was incredibly clear that the foul occurred outside the box, but no fans in the stadium or at home were complaining.
