A 16-year-old boy was stabbed in the leg and chest during a 'frightening' attack carried out by a robbery gang. The victim and his friend were on Sedgley Street in Middleton when they were approached by a group of five men, police said.

The gang threatened them and demanded their phones, a man bag and a Canada goose body-warmer. During the robbery both boys - aged 16 and 17 - were punched and the younger one was stabbed twice.

Fortunately, he was taken to hospital with minor injuries and has since been discharged to recover at home. Greater Manchester Police has launched an investigation into the shocking incident that happened at around 10pm on Sunday, March 22.
