Boris Johnson has once again warned that if people continue to ignore social distancing rules he would have no choice but to introduce tougher measures to enforce it.
The Prime Minister says government will now think "very actively in the next 24 hours" about "restricting movement altogether" due to the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak.
However the government has still not announced a lockdown for the UK. Speaking at today's press briefing, when asked about when the UK will follow the strict measures taken in other countries, he said that "we don’t yet know the effects of the measures that are in place now." “The answer is always to be guided by the science,” he said, emphasising the importance of the correct timing for a lockdown.
