Beyoncé May Be Planning a Top-Secret Oscars Performance to Honor Venus and Serena Williams
glamour.comKing Richard alongside Dixson, may be performing it during the telecast, reports.Beyoncé’s team is reportedly “in deep talks with producers” about performing her nominated track virtually from tennis courts in Compton, California—the very place where King Richard subjects Venus and Serena Williams began playing.
According to Variety’s sources, she could potentially open the show after a live introduction from the film’s best actor nominee, Will Smith, who would then head to the Dolby Theatre.Although this is Beyoncé’s first Oscar nomination, it wouldn’t be her first performance at the awards show.
In 2005, she sang various best original song nominees live, including “Learn to Be Lonely” The Phantom of the Opera. Two years later, she performed a medley of songs from Dreamgirls alongside her co-stars Jennifer Hudson and Anika Noni Rose.
And 2009 featured an ode to movie musicals with Beyoncé and host Hugh Jackman. Performances and presenters for this year’s Oscars, which will be and produced by Will Packer and Shayla Cowan, are trickling in.
