Boris Johnson held the last press conference on the UK government’s response to the coronavirus. In that time a number of new local lockdown measures have been brought in, there has been criticism over the way school results have been handled and travel advice for Brits going on holiday continues to change.
When the government announced it would be scrapping the daily press briefings on June 23, the prime minister’s spokesperson said the government would continue to hold press conferences to coincide with significant announcements.
Since then, five have been held, most recently on Friday, July 31, the day after Matt Hancock announced on Twitter that local lockdown measures were being introduced in parts of the north of England.
