On Friday, producer 9th Wonder decided to remind hip-hop fans of JAY-Z’s status as one of the greatest rappers of all time by breaking down the Brooklyn MC’s prodigious output in the recording booth.
In a lengthy Facebook post, the North Caroline native recalled hearing about Jay recording seven songs from The Blueprint in one weekend. “He recorded the first 7 songs from Blueprint in a WEEKEND.
A WEEKEND. With NO. PAPER,” 9th Wonder wrote, before listing “The Ruler’s Back,” “Takeover,” “Izzo (H.O.V.A.),” “Girls, Girls, Girls,” “Jigga that N*gga,” “U Don’t Know,” and “Hola' Hovito.” It’s clear that 9th was relaying a secondhand account of the story.
