Police and fire crews were called to the scene on Bolton Road in Irlams o' th' Height at around 12.50am this morning (Thursday).

Officers were initially called to reports of a burglary at a shop. They arrived and discovered a fire inside. Police said they believe that someone might have been inside the building, but they fled the scene.

The force has not confirmed the name of the shop where the incident happened, though pictures taken this morning showed four blown out windows at the Big Discount Store on Bolton Road.
