As we approach the festive period you may be wondering what the chances are that we will get to enjoy a white Christmas this year.

The fabled white Christmas that we hope for every year doesn't always come, sometimes turning into a day of grey skies and rain instead.

While an exact forecast cannot be given yet whether we will be able to make snowmen in the garden this Christmas - we do have an idea of what the weather will be like for December 25. Read more: The Met Office has released its long-range forecast for the rest of December and, while not 100 per cent accurate, can provide an inkling of what to expect.

From Saturday, December 11 to Monday, December 20, the Met Office has predicted that temperatures will get milder as time goes on
