Dawson’s Creek fans will remember Joshua Jackson as the much-loved Pacey Witter, but his latest role brings about a much darker and more sinister side of the actor we haven’t seen before.

Joshua is starring in the new series from Peacock, Dr Death, which sees him take on the role of Christopher Duntsch — a twisted former Texas surgeon who inflicted harm on most of his patients, eventually killing two of them.

The first trailer for the miniseries has just dropped, and it shows just how sociopathic the surgeon was, as Joshua’s character stars alongside Alec Baldwin and Christian Slater, both doctors who question his methods.

If this makes Ozon’s version, which opens this year’s Berlin Film Festival, an oddly self-invalidating proposition from the get-go, that impression only deepens as the minutes tick amusingly but inconsequentially by.For the uninitiated (who are very obviously not the audience for this inside-baseball bauble), Fassbinder’s film is the story of a sadomasochistic lesbian love triangle between a successful fashion designer, her model protégée and her mute assistant.
