Viewers praise Normal People for powerful therapy scenes

The rate of suicide among men in Ireland is high, something which is highlighted in Normal People. Connell loses one of his best friends to suicide and in the later episodes of the show begins to struggle with his own mental health.

Unfortunately, there is still a stigma around opening up about your feelings, mental health and going to therapy here in Ireland.

It is part of why the scenes which show Connell in therapy and physically crying were so powerful. Speaking to his therapist, he says:
