Vicky Pattison has been flooded with praise after being left close to tears on The One Show. The former Geordie Shore star appeared on the BBC One show on Monday night (July 18) to discuss her upcoming documentary which is very close to home.

She has recently opened up about her binge drinking past ahead of her new Channel 4 documentary, Vicky Pattison: My Dad, Alcohol and Me.

She recalled being used "as a human walking stick" by her dad John as his drinking became worse and admitting to becoming "frightened" at the idea of his alcoholism being passed on to her.

The documentary will see Vicky, who shot to fame as one of the popular party girls on MTV's Geordie Shore, alongside her dad as well as finding out if her own lifestyle has done irreparable damage to her body and learn how our genes and behaviour can lead to a susceptibility to addictive behaviour. "I just don't think it's ever easy to have serious and open conversations that ar potentially going to be difficult with people you love," the 34-year-old replied. "I don't know how you feel but I hate confrontation with people I love and having to give my dad tough love in the documentary was really difficult. "My instant reaction is to wrap him up in cotton wool.
