Bernie Sander
Bernard Sanders (born September 8, 1941) is an American politician who has served as the junior United States Senator from Vermont since 2007 and as U.S. Representative for the state's at-large congressional district from 1991 to 2007. He is the longest-serving independent in U.S. congressional history, although he has a close relationship with the Democratic Party, having caucused with House and Senate Democrats for most of his congressional career. Sanders unsuccessfully sought the Democratic Party nomination for president of the United States in 2016 and 2020.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, the chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, said Sunday on ABC’s This Week that there appears to be enough votes to pass a new round of Covid-19 relief using a process called reconciliation.The process is used to pass budget matters in the US Senate and requires just a simple majority of 51 votes in support.

Normally, a 60-vote super-majority is required to pass legislation. The Senate can pass one bill per year on spending, revenue and the federal debt limit using reconciliation.

The tactic has been used by Republicans and Democrats in prior administrations.“All of us will have differences of opinions, this is a $1.9 trillion dollar bill,” said Sanders. “I have differences and concerns about this bill.
