justjared.comOver the weekend, the trustees of the Recording Academy voted Friday (April 30) to disband nominations review committees and let Grammy voters have the final say in all non-craft categories.
The decision came after The Weeknd criticized The Grammys earlier this year, after his album, After Hours, failed to secure any nominations.
The secret committees, for years, had determined who the nominees would be for major categories. The Recording Academy added that the categories would now be “determined by a majority, peer-to-peer vote of voting members of the Recording Academy.” However, The Weeknd is still boycotting the show.
