Steven Gerrard

Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Rangers put up a sustained title charge up until the winter break last season there was one player's name on everybody's lips - Alfredo Morelos.

The Colombian was at his one-man wrecking ball best as he wracked up the kind of numbers that prompted comparisons with Italian Marco Negri who famously blasted 33 goals before the turn of the year in 1997.Morelos reached 28 after an astonishing run of form, but withered away horribly after the January return to action that saw his team's title aspirations collapse.

As their star man huffed and puffed in front of goal, toiling away with little tangible reward, it was clear that Rangers, while hardly a one man team, were over-reliant on their number 9.
